Coalville town is a product of the Industrial Revolution, and as its name indicates, it is a former coal-mining town. Despite this, the town is surrounded by beautiful scenery, and as it is in the heart of The National Forest, the old coalfields have turned into landscapes of flourishing flora and fauna.
Land which 20 years ago sold for £20 per acre is now selling at £400-£500 per acre for building upon. The high chimneys of the residential buildings give the neighbourhood an iconic appearance; giving Coalville an appropriate name.
Numerous business parks have been established in Coalville following the decline of coal mining and allied industries. In October 2016, Amazon opened its biggest fulfillment centre in the UK in Coalville.
